The Cuckoo’s Hollow Action Group which has, for many years, helped nurture our local beauty spot has decided on a name change. Whilst action has always been the key objective of the team, which is affiliated to the Neighbourhood Council, it was felt that the current name was too aggressive and consequently it has now become ‘The Friends of Cuckoo’s Hollow’

Despite the name being changed there is nothing less aggressive about the Group’s plans for the future.

At this month’s meeting the team decided to join the Anglian Water and Environment Agency sponsored RiverCare scheme and embark upon a number of new projects to improve both the lake and Werrington Brook.

The regular litter-picks will continue throughout the Summer and volunteers are being sought to join in a number of weekend clean-up events.

Application has been made for a grant with which it is hoped to provide a number of picnic tables and business sponsorship is being sought to install seating at the Werrington Meadows end of the site.

Also on the agenda is the possibility of providing bird feeding stations and the installation of both bird and bat nesting boxes.

‘We hope that by next Spring we will be able to involve local residents even more by holding a Cuckoo’s Hollow open day event’ said WNC Press Officer, David Hedges.

‘But we do need YOUR help, either as a sponsor or a volunteer and to this end we will soon be holding a public meeting to present and discuss our plans’

In the meantime please do not hesitate to contact us if you can assist -
